Part Two- Words Matter: Talking to Staff and Clients About Implementing Billing for STD Services

How does staff at every level support systems changes? The fact is, what we say can be just as important as what we do.

This session will explore key messages that leaders can use to motivate staff to make and sustain changes associated with implementing systems to bill and be reimbursed for the provision of STD-related services. This includes examining what front-line staff should say to start the conversation with clients, facilitating an assessment of ability to pay using a sliding fee scale, and addressing concerns about confidentiality due to billing without denying service to clients based on ability to pay.

Part Three- Coding Basics for STD Services

Part Four- Conducting a Cost Analysis & Creating a Sliding Fee Scale

Understanding what it costs to provide STD services in your setting is a critical step in preparing for negotiations, or re-negotiations, of contracts with third party payers to ensure reimbursement for providing STD services, and in developing a sliding fee scale.

This session will describe a user friendly process for determining the cost of delivering STD services, and constructing a sliding fee scale.

Part Five - Contracting & Credentialing: What You Need to Know

Many healthcare agencies and providers do not update their existing contracts with third party payers on a regular basis. Given the pace of change in clinical recommendations and new technologies, it is an absolute necessity to regularly update contracts to ensure payment for evidence-based care.

This session will provide practical tips for updating existing contracts with third party payers and describe the basic steps associated with establishing new contracts. It will also describe the process of credentialing clinical providers of STD services as a necessary requirement of contracting with third party payers.
